Burnout: Skate in Detroit
Go Skateboarding Day began with Drew on his daily Starbucks pilgrimage.
Not as easy as you might think - especially in Detroit.
Hart Plaza - Wild in the Streets ground zero.
It didn't seem like that many people, but after a few minutes of the deafening clatter of wheels on bricks I realized there were thousands of us.
HK knows to save his strength for the straightaways.
The locals seemed mostly amused.
Mostly.
Which one's his vert board?
Nuts were rattling loose the whole way. Detroit streets are rough!
DFL's, everywhere.
The cops were cool, mostly.
Two-thirds stop at the big 11.
Frankie came all the way from LA to bust.
The Boss never disappoints a crowd.
I was there!
Media blitz from all angles.
It was about 1000 degrees.
Speaking of ...
Of course there were Danforths. It's fuckin' Michigan.
The final turn to the finish line.
Vigilante obstacles, immediately shredded.
One mohawk or three, you were stoked to have made it.
The skate slab was ringed by derilect projects.
Every floor had 10,000 college photo classes worth of beautiful squalor.
Practically giving it away.
Oh hi, Jer.
Twenty years too late for his pro spotlight, but Go Skateboarding Day inventor Don Brown caspers nonetheless.
The innate attraction of throwing shit out of high windows.
Don's iphone angle. Nailing the F out of it.
Yep, there it went.
Back on Earth, a little QT with the bros.
Babes, everywhere.
If the longboard revolution has given us anything, it's bikini tops at a skate demo.
Happy GSD everybody!
