Thrasher Weekend: CONS in Kansas City Photos
8/05/2024
The CONS Team rolled through Kansas City with one of the largest crews on a Thrasher Weekend trip to date—Louie Lopez, Milton Martinez, Zered Basset, Brian O’Dwyer, Jake Johnson, Ariana Spencer, Sammy Baca, Zion Effs, and the list goes on and on. They should add five stars onto the One Star shoe, 'cause that's how we ate the whole trip. Big ups to Escapist, Barnside, Harrison ST DIY, Skullcandy, Voodoo Ranger and all the fans who came out for the demos. KC, y’all know about hospitality and good food. ‘Til next time! —Rhino
Let's start with a Memento-esque shot of the whole CONS crew out front of Escapist Skateboarding in Kansas City. We'll be back here in a bit
First looks. The crew watches the new dude Romel handle business
Romel Torres escaped death and got one hell of a trick. You’re gonna need to wait for this photo in the mag
Backin’ him up, Raney Beres gets a Smith pop out
This spot ain't trash! Louie goes 5-0 on a bump to dumpster
An hour or more outside of KCK is a place called Barnside. It’s exactly what you’d imagine from the name
Thanks for letting us come and skate!
Felt like we were on KOTR. Louie hops in the bed on this wild kicker to pickup
Brian Delatorre, back Smith on the toolbox
The heat in Kansas is no joke. Jake Johnson and Aaron Herrington play it cool
Zion said this is the funnest place he has ever been. High praise from a Florida kid
Hell yeah they got ATVs at the barn! Kaue Cossa, Peter blunt
Cape Cod’s all-time star Zered Bassett snaps an O on the Midwest’s concrete mecca
Raney in his element, textbook boneless
Louie samples one of their multi-wheeled options. He’s gotta get the miles in somehow
He also never neglects arm day. Monkey-bar assisted slash
On the way out, Romel Torres rips a nosegrind around the bend. Solid first day in KC
The next day, the whole crew rolled up for a demo over at Penn Valley Skatepark
Straight to business, Brian O’Dwyer points out a switch front feebs
Ryan Townley, upstream board slide yank over. Thought he wouldn’t?!
Zered blasting a kickflip over the hip
You already know this SOTY can soar. Bank-skippin’ Ollie
Brian was locked on the two-block for a minute. Back Smith from the far side
If you did, I dip. Louie Lopez backs up the BOD
As is tradition, we close it out with some high-impact hits. Townley drops the first bomb
Romel, front crooks
Brian back on a hubba, front blunt
And the showstopper Louie shut it down with a 180 switch crook
Inspired by Barnside, we hit the streets with some ‘crete. Good way to kill time while saving the legs
BOD’s first time with the grinder. Look out, Philly
Bridge life. Next day, we started off at the big bank
Dude was workin’ on this trip

Yep, Raney shut it down! Transfer from Kansas to Missouri
Back in the streets, we're greeted by a security cop vaping with a gun on his side. Careful out there
If it wasn’t security, it was the water
Then the real cops got called
That’s a wrap on this spot. Quick pic, then we’re movin’ on
Ariana…
Next up, we found another skinny ledge to roll on. Romel hopped to it with a boardslide pop out. This kid rips!
We had Aaron Herrington in the van, so a rail mission was mandatory. He brought the back 180 nosegrind easy
Louie, nollie crook before getting kicked off campus

Hell yeah
Romel Every-Spot Torres, crook yank over
Skatin’ like he’s on the Scramble, Romel takes down another rail. Back Smith
Manual god Bobby De Keyzer somehow did backside flip fakie nose manny over this bench. Photo doesn’t do it justice. Again, we ask you to be patient for the footage
In KC, you can get a pizza and a pole jam for five bucks at Little Caesars. BOD takes the latter, no-comply PJ
Brian Delatorre, hot-and-ready switch pole jam
We stopped at a rollercoaster for Zered to roll-on 5-0
Oh, this thing?! Zered tests the waters switch
Raney’s more of a top-turnbuckle kinda guy
Maybe the last spot was a little too clean for Kaue. Back 180 nosegrind on the cutty stuff
This crew was on a straight-up TEAR. Townley, gap to front wallride
A perfect mellow rail? Hold my soda. Zion, back lip
BOD backs him up with a tipped up BSNB
Thought Romel would leave it alone? How have you made it this far? Kickflip 50-50 from the kid
Locked up in front of an ‘85 Deville
Last rail rip of the trip. Townley slides through the kinks for the fans
Aaron Herrington with an even heavier 50-50 back 180 out
And sliding into home, Romel hits the roll-on grind into the KC’s iconic slide
And who better to go out on than Big Lou? Shuttin’ it down with a fakie frontside flip from the top deck. Thanks again to CONS, Escapist, Skullcandy, Voodoo Ranger and everyone in Kansas City that made this a weekend to remember
