Thrasher Weekend: Vans in Austin Photos
11/04/2024
Temps were droppin’ around the country, but the heat was still in the Austin streets. So we took the last Thrasher Weekend of the year down to Texas with Vans and No-Comply. Legends like Cab and TNT added to the occasion with a stacked squad of stars like K-Walks, Elijah, Pedro, Zion and more. We fired up the ditches, kinkers and Austin’s famed House park. Remember, when you’re in Texas, “keep your saddle oiled and your gun greased.” We did exactly that. Join the ride with all the flicks from our epic rip. —Joe Brook
No better place to get our bearings—a Texas ditch
I had to keep a head count on the talent. Let's get a family photo for reference
Shiloh Catori sparked the session with a mean noseslide
Ditch activities. There was an iPhone propped up behind the soccer ball. I swear Shealy wasn't giving a proper-lacing demo
Nick Michel, front blunt on a weathered QP
Ditch Bros Trujillo and Michel
We linked up with Austin ripper Treveon Wade to see how the locals get down. A proper kicky back tail confirmed they don’t mess around
Roman Pabich likes to get high in ditches. Frontside wall bash
Zion Wright, Kung-Fu style kickflip crooks to close out the first spot
Next up, Trujillo battles headwinds and traffic to front tail this roadside attraction
Diego battled this backside flip off the transition
Serrated cement? Shiloh ain’t afraid
Daiki with cat-like skills, ollie off and over the wire
No stress for a SOTY, this golden-hour half-Cab heel was a breeze for K-Walks
First meal with T Bird about to go in at Terry Blacks BBQ
Next day, we started with some free gear. Thanks to Skullycandy for always keeping the beats in the streets
Speaking of streets! No shortcuts for Trujillo, boardslide on a lengthy ledge
Pedro might find his Olympic calling on the rings
Hella fast gap to front tail. Daiki rips!
Roman limbers up before the next spot
But Tyson’s gotta get some first. High-velocity gap to back 50
A good TM will teach a team to fish. Right, Kevin?
Apparently he’s a master angler. Pro tip: throw a little beef jerky on the line for unbeatable bait
While Shealy was gone fishin’, Berle battled some bent steel
Those are happy horns
More metal? Roman was the first to jump on this rail. Feeble through the kink
Daiki got his back with the frontside
Rome came all the way from Australia to cop a clean front board shove
Zion can’t resist a rail session, frontside 5-0. Alright, let’s get the crew to less-sackable terrain
Nick heats up the Lizard Ditch. Bluntslide
All-terrain terror, Berle busts a phat FSO
Add a grab? Sure, why not? Soarin’ FSA
It said “Back Woods Badass” on his boots. What else is there to say?
Shiloh, blunt to fakie
Tyson ain’t sore yet. Lofty FS flip almost outta frame
A true teammate will size ya up right. Chima obliges Elijah
Trunk Boys 4 LIFE
No-Comply X Thrasher video coming to the world wide web soon…
Full house at the premiere is a good sign
Howdy, y’all?! Steve Caballero and Lizzie Armanto made it out
Stay loose, Daiki!
Spooky season? Nah, it’s SOTY season. Berle’s here to battle
Elijah’s essentials
Goddamn! This is no pre-demo chill spot. Upstream grind to grind
Over at House Park, it was demo time! Our guy Gary always brings the hype
Filled to the nosebleeds
Mixed signals from the punkers. Just glad they made it out
Y’all seen Pedro?!
Startin’ strong, Hina Maeda blazes the trail with a front board
Unmistakable style, that’s Curren in the clouds
Caballero and Hawk ‘24? That’s a ticket we can all agree on
Lizzie’s in!
Two on the deck, never gets old
Lizzie and Shiloh in the House … Park
No-Comply's own Elias Bingham comin’ through with the hottest new collab
Cab inkin’ up his kicks for Piet Parra
And this reissue too? Cab’s a man of the people
And it’s back to the bowl. Feeble around the corner
Over on the street course, Tyson gets his hubba fix. Kicky back tail
Gift from a fan—Baker 4 Life!
Salmon style all weekend, Elijah Berle goes upstream again
Smiles for miles
Sometimes the TM gotta show the team his chops. Kevin Shealy on a Templeton-steezed front blunt
Alright, y’all, it’s time to toss some proddy
Still watchin’
Trujillo and his KOTR cover! Better not see it on eBay
Thrasher, it's a family affair. Can’t thank the Beres parents enough
Father and son getting their Thrashers signed. That’s family bonding
Singature on a signature, K-Walks obliges
Sup, punk?!
Time to cool off!
Hina and Shiloh got some hang time on the river bank before the big show
Speaking of, Paradise opened up and scorched the stage
Circle pit or sumo pit? Who cares?! Dust was flyin’
Ninth Circle, great band name considering the crowd
Skull Cowboy, also a great band name
And to shut it down, we brought Necrot out from The Bay
My favorite photo of the pit. Title: Birds and Skulls
Pedro Delfino flipped the fuck out
Last day, we had to get another family photo to make sure we still had all the heads. Pretty sure we got ‘em all. Who can resist a pit stop at No-Comply?!
No demos on the agenda meant we were back in these streets. Diego boosts one from the sidewalk
As if you needed another reminder, it’s SOTY season
Elijah wants some too! Bush blast to hill bomb. Now let’s get them over to the big shit
Over at UT, we had to check that massive double stack. Kyle gets first rip
Pyscho Dro joins the party
Saw it on the ‘Gram probably, but here’s the photo for the permanent record. Elijah doubles down on a mind-blowing nosegrind
A taste of glory, Jerome and Brendan celebrate Berle's clip with Terry Black’s banana pudding
K-Walks goes Frankie Hill to leave one more mark on the Texas terrain. Let’s check in with the crew to see who’s still standing
Daiki and Trey, two cool cats
Mixed signals, yet again. This time from TNT and Berle
Paddle board patrol! Roman and Shealy are on it
Tyson tries the Body-by-Berle regimen
Pretty much empty calories, right?
The ol’ cheese slice to the back, trick. You guys get it
Zion shows the crew how to properly pack a board for the plane
You good, Diego? No better feeling than going home dusted after one final ditch battle. Thanks, Thrasher, Vans, No-Comply, Skullcandy and Voodoo Ranger for the epic times in Austin. Until next year
