We all said, “Goddamn!” when Henry burst onto skateboarding's radar with bright purple hair, barging big-ass rails. He lived for family and friends, but skated for himself, greeting bone-shattering slams with a laugh and a big smile. A true ripper in every sense of the word, his star will live on through the people he loved who all shared so many joys, special moments and memories. I never thought this is how we would say goodbye, but let us remember and celebrate the life of E. Henry Gartland today, tomorrow and every time we step on our skateboards.
